Working from home is great on those days where you fancy a nap at lunchtime and have a lot of laundry to get through. But oftentimes, working solo at a desk in your bedroom can feel lonely and it can be hard to separate work from play when you’re doing both in the same space. Here is a list of ten great places to work in London. We’ve divided them up into north, east, west and south London as well as central if you fancy going into town or have evening plans. You’re welcome!
East London
One of East London’s newest hotels, MAMA Shelter has a large restaurant/bar/lounge area perfect for getting cosy and doing some work. If you need to take a break then why not look for another AndCo member to have a game on the oversized table football table? If you need a meeting room then Mama Shelter has to have some of the coolest in London….fully equipped with Karaoke set up for when you fancy letting off some steam once your meeting is over.
Number 10 is a social hub & alternative work location which shares its space with vinyl shop & label The BBE Store & Japanese bar/restaurant Sho Foo Doh (open from 6pm for dinner). Your day will be soundtracked by the store’s staff & the extensive vinyl collection on offer. You’re welcome to bring your own food and drink during the daytime, excluding alcohol, however, there may be a member of staff available to make coffee & serve drinks from behind the bar (the bar & restaurant officially opens at 6pm). Nestled in the Overground train-line arches that run alongside the leafy space of London Fields & Broadway Market, surrounded by other brilliant local businesses & cafes, this is one of the capital’s most musical & diverse work spaces.
Central London
A light and bright New York style open plan space just a couple of minutes walk from Piccadilly Circus. The exposed brick interior, hanging plants and great food and drink make for the perfect place to do your best work, or host meetings.
A stone’s throw from the sites and scene’s of Covent Garden is Palm Court Brasserie. Large and spacious, the restaurant provides a quiet retreat from the ever popular streets of Covent Garden. With great lunch offers, teas, coffees and super friendly staff, this is a great place to base yourself for the afternoon. You may notice that there are no plug sockets here, but fear not, just ask the staff for a battery pack and they will provide you with one.
West London
Kindred is reimagining how a members’ club can function as the centre point of city lives: where we work, play, and seek community. Work here, eat here, celebrate here, and most importantly, connect with the people here. You can now book a meeting room here as an AndCo member – what a space to get inspired in.
The Cock and Bottle, Notting Hill
Located in a delightfully quiet backwater in Notting Hill opposite St Mary of the Angels Church, you will find one of West London’s most charming and beautifully restored traditional pubs. It has a great upstairs private room where AndCo members are more than welcome.
South London
Sitting in the heart of Clapham, the Belle Vue is a vegan friendly pub with lots of comfortable seating and plugs to get your head down and crack on with some work. Clapham Common is also within walking distance to stretch those legs every once in a while.
This brand new, friendly pizza restaurant in the heart of Peckham is a favourite amongst the locals. Boasting a large open quiet space with plenty of tables, it is a great place to get your head down for a few hours if you’re in the South East of London!
North London
A staple in the Kentish Town neighbourhood. If you are looking for a great place to get your head down for a few hours. The venue is comfortable and spacious and has a great meeting room to get the team together.
The Lighertman, Granary Square
A pub, dining room & bar located on Granary Square and adjacent to Regent’s Canal. With a relaxed atmosphere & industrial yet modern interiors, The Lighterman’s ground floor is a light & airy space to sit down and get on with some work. Their weekday menu offers great coffee, (thanks to family-run Read’s Coffee Roasters) freshly squeezed juices & delicious breakfasts to keep you energised all morning.
