TikTok, the popular social media app, is testing its own AI chatbot called “Tako.”
This chatbot appears on the right side of the TikTok interface and can be used to ask questions or discover new content. Users can ask Tako about video-related queries or request recommendations on specific topics.
The chatbot is being tested in select markets and is not currently available in the United States. TikTok is using a third-party AI provider for Tako and advises users that it is an experimental feature. The conversations with Tako will be reviewed for safety purposes.
However, it is not clear if the chatbot logs personal information or how long the data is retained. The introduction of an AI chatbot on TikTok could potentially challenge Google’s dominance in search, especially among younger users.
