Snapchat has announced that its subscription service, Snapchat+, has reached an impressive milestone of 4 million paid subscribers within its first year of launch. In addition to this achievement, the company has unveiled two upcoming features that will be available to subscribers in the near future.

The first feature, called “Expressive Chat Messages,” allows users to send messages in larger font sizes, adding a new level of creativity and personalization to their chats.

The second feature, “Custom Chat Colors,” grants users the ability to choose the color in which their name appears during conversations. Currently, Snapchat assigns a default red color to users’ names, but soon subscribers will have the freedom to select their preferred hue.

Snapchat+ has been steadily growing since its introduction in June 2022. It reached 1 million subscribers in August of that year and hit the 2 million mark in February. The latest milestone of 4 million paid subscribers demonstrates its continued success.

However, it is worth noting that this number represents only a fraction of Snapchat’s 375 million daily active users. Since its launch, Snapchat+ has introduced several noteworthy features, such as the AI-powered chatbot called “My AI.” Initially exclusive to subscribers, the company later made this chatbot accessible to all users. Nevertheless, Snapchat+ offers exclusive perks to its subscribers, including a generative AI feature. This feature allows subscribers to send Snaps of their activities and receive generative Snaps in return from the in-app chatbot.

Snapchat+ is available for a monthly subscription fee of $3.99. Subscribers gain access to experimental and pre-release features, customizable app themes, unique app icons, the ability to prioritize their top friend, and more. The service is currently offered in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
