For years, Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber have been the subject of rumors about a supposed feud between them. And while the two women have previously denied any bad blood between them, speculation intensified in early 2023 after Hailey shared a TikTok video that some believed was directed at Selena.
However, on March 23, 2023, Selena took to her Instagram Stories to finally address the situation and set the record straight.
In her post, the “Bad Liar” singer revealed that Hailey had reached out to her after receiving death threats and other hateful messages from fans.
“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,” Selena wrote. “This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”

Selena went on to urge her fans to put an end to the hate and bullying, emphasizing that she herself is an advocate for kindness.
While Selena did not directly address the TikTok video that sparked the most recent round of rumors, her message was clear: it’s time to move on from this supposed feud and focus on spreading positivity and kindness.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Selena and Hailey have been at the center of rumors and speculation. The two women have a complicated history, largely due to the fact that Hailey is married to Selena’s ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.
Back in October 2022, Selena and Hailey appeared to put any animosity behind them when they were seen hugging it out at an event. However, just a few months later, rumors of a feud resurfaced after Hailey’s TikTok video.
In the video, Hailey was seen lip-syncing along to the words, “I’m not saying she deserves it, but God’s timing is always right.” While Hailey insisted that the video had nothing to do with Selena, many fans were convinced that she was taking a shot at her husband’s ex.
The drama continued to escalate when Hailey’s friend Kylie Jenner shared a similar TikTok video in which she poked fun at her own eyebrow mishap. Fans immediately speculated that the post was a dig at Selena, and the hashtag #TeamSelena started trending on social media.
Throughout it all, Selena largely stayed out of the drama, only commenting on a few TikTok videos in which fans had voiced their support for her. However, she made it clear in her recent Instagram post that she is tired of the negativity and wants to put an end to the hate and bullying once and for all.
It’s worth noting that Selena and Hailey have both been vocal about their support for mental health awareness and anti-bullying campaigns in the past. In 2022, Selena even launched her own mental health initiative called Rare Beauty, which aims to raise awareness and funds for mental health services.
Given their shared values, it’s clear that both Selena and Hailey would prefer to focus on spreading positivity and kindness rather than fueling rumors and speculation. And hopefully, with Selena’s latest message, fans will take heed and put an end to the hate and bullying once and for all.
