Instagram has announced that it will now show ads in search results through its Marketing API.
This means that when you search for something on Instagram, you may see ads related to your search in the feed. These ads will be labeled as “Sponsored” to distinguish them from regular posts. The introduction of ads in search results is aimed at generating more revenue for Instagram’s parent company, Meta, which has been experiencing a decline in ad sales.
Instagram had previously launched Reminder Ads to help businesses promote upcoming events or launches. This move to include ads in search results may not be welcomed by users, as it adds another area of the app where ads are displayed.
