The paid subscriptions will help creators make money from providing subscribers with exclusive content and features, like subscriber-only lives and badges.
Fans will pay a monthly subscription fee to access subscriber-only content from creators that they follow. Subscribers will get a purple badge next to their username to signal the status to the creator. Prices are set to range anywhere from $0.99 to $99.99 per month, the creators can select the price point. Instagram won’t take any cut of creators’ subscription revenues until 2023.
“I’m excited to keep building tools for creators to make a living doing creative work and to put these tools in more creators’ hands soon,” Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta.
Instagram is set to release this to all creators, but for now they’re testing this out with ten creators including Sedona Prince, Jordan Chiles, and Aliza Kelly.
